Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo – #2 Grisha Trilogy

Yes!!! I finally read the second book in the trilogy!!! So if I am to be completely honest, I wasn’t going to post this book up. I guess I was just struggling to write it up without revealing everything. It’s so hard to do series because you can always spoil the first book for people, especially if they don’t know it is part of a trilogy. I think from now on I’m going to make it clear right at the heading of my post if a book is part of a series or not; hopefully that fixes this dilemma!

Alina and Mal have barely escaped from the Darkling. Now that he is stronger than ever, Alina knows that it will take more than luck to defeat the Darkling; she has to harness her power and learn to use it properly. But the stronger her power grows, the more Alina finds herself slipping into the realm of darkness. She may be trying to find a way to defeat the Darkling and save those she loves – but will she lose herself in the process?

I actually really like this series. This novel was just the right length; it wasn’t too short and quick but neither did it drag on. It is a young adult/teen novel but it is definitely well-written. The author really works wonders with the whole good-vs-evil magic theme, which is quite a difficult feat these days considering the amount of books we have on the same topic. Of course, I’m going to read the last book; after the cliffhanger way this one left off, I have to!

Happy reading ~
