Raging Star by Moira Young

I finally finished the Dustlands series! This is the final book in the trilogy. To be honest, I was surprised that I didn’t have to wait at all to read this book; usually popular series will be on hold for weeks! Maybe I’m just late getting to it…

Saba and her group of friends are in the fight for their lives. Now that she has met DeMalo, Saba realizes that defeating him will be no easy task. With his charm and passion, he has fed his people a dream built on lies. Saba, Lugh, and the others are determined to thwart his plans but their inexperience lands them in even more trouble than before. Will Saba be able to find a way to take down DeMalo before it’s too late? Or will she become his follower instead?

This series kind of fell for me. The first book was good, the second wasn’t that good, and this last one is kind of in between. It took a bit too long for Saba to come up with a plan and dealing with her emotional drama was quite annoying. I liked that the author included the notion of a traitor; it added a bit of a nice twist. The ending was sad yet satisfactory; in these apocalyptic books, there seems to be a trend in having good characters die for a noble cause. It’s quite a shame how this series panned out; it really could have been a great thing. In short, unless you are hooked on this series already, don’t bother with this novel.

Happy reading ~
