Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

When I walked into the bookstore and saw this on the shelves, my heart stopped. I hadn’t expected the sequel to come out so quickly! I ended up getting my friend to buy the first book and this one and begged her to let me borrow it from her (which she kindly agreed to do). So let me just jump into my review right away.

The Queen of Mortmense has heard news of the treachery of the new Queen of the Tearling and has declared war. It is now up to Kelsea to live up to her queenly status and save her country. As she grapples with her powers, which are growing stronger by the day, she finds herself wondering whether she is truly the saviour that the Tearling need. When Kelsea begins to have visions of a woman from the time of the Pre-Crossing, she doesn’t know what to make of it. But the more and more she journeys into this new dream land, the more she finds herself changing… And perhaps the change isn’t for the better….

Those of you who have read the first book, go and get this book NOW! It is just as good as the first and I know you will love it as much as I do! I love the whole time travelling element and I like the character flaws that were introduced; it made Kelsea more human and more realistic. There is even a romance aspect (though I’m reserving all judgement on how I feel about it). Either way, it was a great read and I can’t wait for the third book in this series!

Happy reading ~
