The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker

I had a lot of trouble with this author because he has written so many books! I had first started with this one novel that I had placed on hold for a while now, only to discover that it was a (sort of) sequel to this book! So I obviously had to read this one!

When Frank discovered the puzzle of Lemarchand’s box, he only had thoughts on attaining that peak in pleasure that he sought after. Its contents, however, led to a demise he could never have predicted. But then Julia, his sister-in-law, finds a way to bring Frank back, a way that is bloody and terrible…

This was a short book but it had the desired effect: it was creepy beyond belief! I was constantly in shock by what I was reading, by the perversions created by this author that were both sickening and intriguing at the same time. No wonder this author has made a life for himself out of fantasy/horror! It was gory and graphic so I would not recommend this to the faint of heart. If you enjoy books like Heartstopper by Joy Fielding, then this is up your alley!

Happy reading ~
