I have read this book countless times and so, I truly believe that it deserves to be written about. I’m sure many people have read this book or watched the movie so this may be pointless but I feel like writing about this anyways.
This book is about symbologist Robert Langdon who finds himself drawn into a battle between the Priori of Sion and the Opus Dei on the secret of the Holy Grail and the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. It all begins one evening when Jacques Sauniere, Louvre curator and Priori of Sion Grand Master, is murdered. However, before he dies, he leaves behind a cryptic message. The police call in Langdon to crack the message before the killer solves it. Sauniere’s granddaughter, Sophie Neveu, becomes involved in the investigation and together, she and Langdon must go on a search that could reveal the biggest secret in Christianity’s history.
Alright, so I’m not Catholic or Christian so none of this really offended me. When this book came out, it was shunned by a lot of religious friends of mine, which is a shame because I found the book to be brilliant. I like how it weaves mystery, history, and adventure seamlessly and I love that it pushes the boundaries. I’m extremely interested in history and so, this book just caught me right away. I don’t know how much of the story is true. To be honest, right after I read this book, I went on a rampage to find as much information on this theory as possible. Anyways, for those of you who haven’t read it, please do read it. Perhaps, it will change your mind on what you previously believed. Maybe it will not change a thing. But it is a good story nevertheless so don’t miss out on it!
Happy reading ~
